This article explains how to migrate your RSS feed from Libsyn, SoundCloud, Feedburner, Spreaker, and other providers

What is a feed redirect?

If you already have a show and use another RSS service, you should create redirects on your other feeds after you import all of your old content. This ensures that iTunes and other services will see that you have a new BlogTalkRadio feed and use that to pull your content. You will keep your iTunes subscribers. Once you've redirected your feed to BTR, we'll be able to track all listener activity on your entire library of content.

We guarantee full feed mobility.

If at any time you are unhappy with our platform, and want to leave, we will redirect your feed to a new RSS feed of your choice upon notification of your intent to depart from our platform and will keep that redirect active for one month.  This ensures that your subscribers stay yours and transition seamlessly.

Libsyn steps

  1. Make sure that all of your content has been imported

  2. Sign in to your Libsyn account

  3. On the main menu, click on the Destinations button

  4. Click the Podcast RSS Feed link on the left-hand side of the page

  5. Click on the green Edit button for your podcast feed

  6. Scroll to the bottom of the next page and click Advanced Options 

  7. Find your the URL to your BTR RSS feed. You can find this by adding /podcast to the end of your BTR URL. Here's an example: http://www.blogtalkradio.com/footballbyfootball/podcast. If you have trouble finding this link, email support@blogtalkradio.com and we'll help you. 

  8. Copy-paste your BTR RSS feed URL in the Redirect feed to this Web address field.

  9. Enter the iTunes redirect tag in the Extra RSS Tags box. It will include your BTR RSS feed URL. For example, the Football by Football podcast would enter: <itunes:new-feed-url>http://www.blogtalkradio.com/footballbyfootball/podcast</itunes:new-feed-url>

  10. Hit save. 

 AudioBoom Steps

To redirect your AudioBoom feed to your BlogTalkRadio Feed: 

AudioBoom requires you to request a redirect through their support portal. 

Here is an email template that you can use when sending your request to support@audioboom.com. 


Hi Support, 

I'm moving my podcast to a new host provider and kindly request that you apply a redirect for the following show ASAP

Can you please apply a 301 (if available) or iTunes redirect from (Insert Your AudioBoom Feed Here) to my new feed at http://www.blogtalkradio.com/YourShowName/podcast ASAP

We will need this redirect kept in place for a minimum of 4 weeks.

Please let me know if you need any more information and an advised timeline would be greatly appreciated as well.

SoundCloud steps

  1. Make sure that all of your content has been imported

  2. Sign in to your SoundCloud account

  3. Head to your Settings. Click on the Content tab

  4. On the Content Settings page, you'll see a Subscriber Redirect box

  5. Enter your BTR RSS feed URL in that box. To find your the URL to your BTR RSS feed, add "/podcast" to the end of your BTR URL. Here's an example: http://www.blogtalkradio.com/footballbyfootball/podcast. If you have trouble finding this link, email support@blogtalkradio.com and we'll help you. 

  6. Save your settings

 FeedBurner steps

  1. Make sure that all of your content has been imported

  2. If you're using WordPress, FeedSmith, PowerPress, or other plugins, remove the URLs and disable these services before proceeding.

  3. Sign in to FeedBurner

  4. Click on Edit Feed Details near the top right-hand side of the page

  5. In the Original Feed box, you'll need to enter the URL of your BTR RSS feed. To find your the URL to your BTR RSS feed, add "/podcast" to the end of your BTR URL. Here's an example: http://www.blogtalkradio.com/footballbyfootball/podcast. If you have trouble finding this link, email support@blogtalkradio.com and we'll help you. 

  6. After you change the Original Feed, click Save Feed Details

  7. Now, you'll need to click Delete Feed at the top of the page

  8. Make sure the With permanent redirection box is checked! This will create a permanent 301 redirect to your new BTR feed. 

  9. Click Delete Feed

 

Spreaker steps

  1. Make sure that all of your content has been imported

  2. Sign in to your Spreaker account

  3. On your Shows page, click the Edit icon

  4. On the right-hand menu, click RSS feed customization

  5. Scroll to the bottom of this page. You'll notice a section called RSS Feed Redirect

  6. In the RSS Feed Redirect box, you'll need to enable the redirect and enter the URL of your BTR RSS feed. To find your the URL to your BTR RSS feed, add "/podcast" to the end of your BTR URL. Here's an example: http://www.blogtalkradio.com/footballbyfootball/podcast. If you have trouble finding this link, email support@blogtalkradio.com and we'll help you. 

  7. Click Save after you've enabled the redirect and copy-pasted your BTR RSS URL.

 

Blubrry/RawVoice/PowerPress steps

Blubrry/RawVoice/PowerPress does not provide an automated way to redirect feeds. This article explains a few ways to create a 301 redirect by creating or editing .htaccess files in the root folder of your website. If you are not able to complete the redirect, they suggest "contacting a friend or web administrator for assistance". Make sure you import your episodes before you issue the redirect.
